Further to notification 2022-019 of 4 April 2022, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, under the guidance of the Bureau of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) and with technical support from the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC), is organizing a technical meeting on indicators for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, as requested in SBSTTA recommendation 24/2.

As specified in the SBSTTA recommendation (paragraph 3), this expert meeting will contribute to a scientific and technical review of the proposed indicators of the monitoring framework for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework, building on the work done at SBSTTA 24, focusing on a comprehensive analysis of high-level indicators and the feasibility for Parties to use them. The meeting will also take into account the outcomes of the fourth meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, to be held on 21-26 June 2022, including with regard to the formulation of draft goals and targets.

The technical meeting will be held from 29 June to 1 July 2022 in Bonn, Germany, back-to-back with the ninth Plenary Session of the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) and will be conducted in English.

Further information, including relevant meeting documents, will be made available on this webpage once logistical and technical arrangements are finalized.
