Number and Extent of Protected Areas
126 protected areas, with 2 Ramsar sites, 4 Biosphere Reserves and 2 pilot marine protected areas, covering a total of 2,541,675 ha and accounting for 7.6% of the total land area.
Percentage of Forest Cover
The total forest area is 12.3 million ha, with 10 million ha of natural forest and 2.2 million ha of plantations.
