Shigetomi Tidal Flats Festivity Project

Fuyoshoji Co., Ltd

We have implemented activities to protect as well as observe nature with a local non-profit organization (NPO) at the sprawling wetlands of Shigetomi, which belong to a beachside swim area of the same name nestled within Kagoshima Bay, popularly known as Kinko Bay.

In the past, this spot was popular among those seeking an enjoyable day of swimming and was famous for its plentiful nature. However, with the increase in population that came with urbanization, the area’s water quality worsened, wildlife disappeared and the coastline was plagued by the illegal dumping of waste.

As part of our corporate efforts to contribute to society and to boost the environmental awareness of our employees, we decided to collaborate on environmental protection activities with the NPO. In addition, we established the Cocochi Fund, using money donated in increments of less than 100 yen from employee salaries, to help support the activities of the environment education NPO Kusu no Ki Shizenkan, which works with us on this project.
