Supporting Pesticide-free Cotton Farms that Contribute to Greener Agriculture and a Better Environment

Tsubame Towel Corporation

Tsubame Towel Corporation is encouraging the spread of environmentally friendly organic cotton and also supporting the work of organic farmers in India.

Tsubame Towel has pursued environmental production using natural glues and enzymatic refining processes that do not use caustic soda. In addition, the firm decided to go one step further and adopt organic cotton for 10 percent of its production needs to further strive to preserve the environment and the land upon which the cotton is grown.

So as not to be swayed by the demand of the market, Tsubame Towel has made arrangements to purchase a predetermined amount of organic cotton directly from cotton farmers. In fiscal 2010, the company is scheduled to use 1,000 bales of organic cotton thread, which translates into 300 million square meters of farmland that is being farmed without pesticides.

The company is promoting this project to consumers with an eye to increasing environmental awareness by promoting the idea that by using an organic face towel a consumer can ensure that one square meter of earth is pesticide free.
