Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) Certification

The Global Aquaculture Alliance BAP standards is a primarily "process" certification system combining site inspections and effluent sampling with sanitary controls, therapeutic controls, and traceability. By implementing BAP standards, program participants can better meet the demands of the growing global market for seafood produced in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Successful participation in the BAP program is visually represented by the use of a BAP certification mark.

A non-profit organization investigating ecosystems in the paddy fields. The center aims to spread agricultural practices which promote paddy-field biodiversity, assist farmer who are employing the practices, and form links between farmers and consumers.

Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service Work Stream

UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP-FI) is a global partnership between UNEP and the financial sector. Over 180 institutions, including banks, insurers and fund managers, work with UNEP to understand the impacts of environmental and social considerations on financial performance. The objective of the ambitious UNEP FI Biodiversity and Ecosystem Service Work Stream is to assist the financial services sector in addressing the challenges arising from the loss of biodiversity and the degradation of ecosystem services. Currently the group consists over 20 members.

Partnership between the South African wine industry and the conservation sector.  The goals are to minimise the further loss of threatened natural habitat and to contribute to sustainable wine production through the adoption of biodiversity guidelines. Brand differentiation based on a proactive stance on biodiversity is a feature of the initiative.

Biodiversity Neutral Initiative (BNI) is global in scope, collaborating with major international conservation groups, energy and mining companies, socially responsible investors, auditing and certification companies, and government regulators.

Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO)

BIO is the world's largest biotechnology organization, providing advocacy, business development and communications services for more than 1,150 members worldwide. BIO engages in the discussions on a possible patent law harmonization treaty within WIPO, the WTO TRIPS process, as well is actively engaged in the deliberations of the Intergovernmental Committee on Folklore, Traditional Knowledge and Genetic Resources of the World Intellectual Property Organization and in various forums within the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD).
