International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO)

ITTO, established in 1986, is an intergovernmental organization promoting the conservation and sustainable management, use, and trade of tropical forest resources. Its members represent about 80% of the world's tropical forests and 90% of the global tropical timber trade. Additional it contains provisions for information sharing, including non-tropical timber trade data, and allows for the consideration of non-tropical timber issues as they relate to tropical timber.

Investment Screening Guidelines for Financial Investors

The WWF has been working with financial institutions since 2005 to develop responsible investment policies addressing sector-specific investments impacting the forest industry.  The initiative helps shape internal banking policies on how these institutions manage their responsibilities in safeguarding the environmental and social qualities of projects impacting forests.Additionally provided is capacity building and training for frontline bankers to screen investment proposals based on social/environment principles.

IUCN Business and Biodiversity

In partnership with Accor, IUCN have produced a guide to sustainable use of biological resources, focusing on the biodiversity implications of specific products or activities. This guide titled ‘Biodiversity: My hotel in action’ highlights the different ways in which hotels can influence biodiversity.
