Access and Benefit-Sharing

Goal 7 of the Convention’s Strategy for Resource Mobilization is aimed at: “Enhancing implementation of access and benefit-sharing initiatives and mechanisms in support of resource mobilization”, with two strategic objectives:

“7.1. To raise awareness and build the capacity of different stakeholders to implement access and benefit-sharing initiatives and mechanisms.

“7.2. To promote exchange of experiences and good practices in access and benefit sharing.”

The ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties decided to review implementation of goal 7 of the Convention’s strategy for resource mobilization at its eleventh meeting.

For the biennium 2011-2012, the following activities are expected:

• Parties and relevant stakeholders to submit information and relevant experiences on goal 7 of the strategy for resource mobilization;
• The fourth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-Ended Working Group on Review of Implementation to consider the implementation of goal 7;
• The tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to review goal 7 and advise on further implementation.
