Awareness Raising

Goal 8 of the Convention’s Strategy for Resource Mobilization seeks to: “Enhance the global engagement for resource mobilization in support of the achievement of the Convention’s three objectives,” with one strategic objective:

“8.1. To raise public awareness of the importance of biological diversity and the goods and services that it provides at all levels in support of resource mobilization.”

The ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties decided to review implementation of goal 8 of the Convention’s strategy for resource mobilization as a standing item at every subsequent meeting. The first review was conducted by the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties in October 2010.

For the biennium 2011-2012, the following activities are expected:

  • Parties and relevant stakeholders to submit information and relevant experiences on goal 8 of the strategy for resource mobilization;
  • The fourth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-Ended Working Group on Review of Implementation to consider the implementation of goal 8;
  • The tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to review goal 8 and advise on further implementation.
