Donor Guide to the Convention on Biological Diversity
December 2004 (230 pages)
An Introduction to Funding Guidance of the Convention on Biological Diversity
December 2002 (130 pages)

As a leading instrument on international biodiversity issues, the Convention on Biological Diversity and the funding guidance from its Conference of the Parties provide a comprehensive guiding framework for programming international financial activities relating to biological diversity as well as a common platform for developing and negotiating funding programmes, projects and/or activities between donors and recipients. By aligning their policy and activities with the Convention’s guidance, donor agencies and organizations can become more supportive of the implementation of the Convention as called for by the Conference of the Parties in decision III/6. To develop biodiversity projects in conformity with the Convention’s guidance, project proponents should find themselves in a better position to convince donor agencies and organizations for possible funding. Overall, this Introduction to Funding Guidance of the Convention on Biological Diversity can serve as a useful tool to promote coordination, coherence and synergies in financing for biological diversity.
