2004 Biodiversity Day Around the World

To mark this year’s celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity, on 22 May, UNDP and partners are hosting a Global Dialogue on the role of community action in environment and development issues. To commemorate the Day, UNDP Administrator Mark Malloch Brown and the Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations, Dr. Gunter Pleuger, will present the prestigious Equator Prize to winning communities from three continents. The presentation of the awards coincides with the 3rd Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues and will be part of a global forum featuring distinguished international experts, such as Professor Jeffrey Sachs and Dr. Tom Lovejoy
