Governments to resume negotiations in Brazil on the implementation of the international treaty on living modified organisms

Next week in Curitiba, the ecological capital of Brazil, the 132 Parties to the Protocol will gather for their third meeting to further advance the objective of this treaty, which upon its adoption was hailed by the Executive Director of UNEP, Mr. Klaus Töpfer, as the first new legal environmental instrument of the twenty-first century. <a href=/doc/press/2006/pr-2006-03-07-biosafety-en.pdf>More…</a><br><br><b>Les gouvernements reprennent les négociations au Brésil sur la mise en oeuvre du Traité international sur les organismes vivants modifiés</b><br>La semaine prochaine, à Curitiba, capitale écologique du Brésil, les 132 Parties au Protocole se retrouveront pour leur troisième réunion afin de promouvoir plus encore la réalisation de l’objectif de ce traité qui, lorsqu’il a été adopté, avait été qualifié par le directeur exécutif du PNUE, M. Klaus Töpfer, de premier instrument environnemental juridique nouveau à voir le jour au vingt-et-unième siècle.
