International Tropical Timber Organization and Convention on Biological Diversity Enter into Partnership

Tokyo, 2 March 2010 – The secretariats of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO) signed a memorandum of understanding today to closely collaborate over the coming four years. “This agreement represents a further step in the efforts under the Convention to engage key organizations in joint efforts to promote conservation and sustainable use of forests,” said Mr. Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity, on the occasion of the signature.
