The GEF and UNDP have invested significant resources into protected areas since the Programme of Work on Protected Areas was first adopted. This side event will summarize challenges, successes and key emerging issues in protected areas, and will highlight lessons learned from the UNDP/GEF "Early Action Grants" for implementation of the Programme of Work on Protected Areas.
