This side event will be dedicated to IPBES, the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, currently under discussion, under the auspices of UNEP. It is jointly organised by DIVERSITAS, IHDP (International Human Dimension Programme on global environmental change), ICSU (International Council for Science and IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature). The side event will have the following related objectives: 1-Inform delegates and seek their views about the various options envisaged for IPBES 2-Inform delegates about the results of the IUCN/ICSU/DIVERSITAS consultation of the scientific and civil societies on IPBES 3-Offer a platform to discuss the various options considered for IPBES. The side event will involve a brief presentation of the options considered for IPBES, and of the results of the on-line consultation, followed by a second presentation on possible scientific priorities for the programme of work of IPBES. It will provide ample time for a discussion between panel members and participants.
