Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

This side event is dedicated to biodiversity protection specifically on the local level. In the project "European Capitals of Biodiversity", over 300 local authorities in France, Hungary, Germany, Spain and Slovakia participated in national competitions on local biodiversity protection. During this side event, the French, Spanish and Hungarian Capitals of Biodiversity of 2010 will present their strategies and actions. The competitions will also be described, including awareness raising among citizens, capacity building for local authorities and local biodiversity monitoring. Food will be provided.
