Organizer
Program for Biosafety Systems, Agrospcope ART and Public Research and Regulation Initiative
Date and Time
11 October 2010 13:15 - 14:45
Products of biotechnology such as genetically modified insect-resistant crop varieties can be a tool to preserve biodiversity and promote sustainable agriculture. This role for biotechnology as part of integrated pest management in crop production will be presented and discussed in this side event. Results of research to support the potential for sustainable use of insect-resistant GM plants, including strategies for insect resistance management, will be presented. The sustainable use of the technology in developing countries will be given special consideration.
