Meeting
Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

During the side event, ICIMOD in collaboration with UNEP and IUCN-WCPA aims to invite global organizations and experts working on transboundary landscapes and connectivity conservation from across the globe. Invited presentations from global and regional experts, and a panel of political delegations from one of the seven transboundary landscapes of the Himalayas are envisaged. The overall purpose of the side event is to promote article 8j of Convention of Biological Diversity (cultural diversity and biodiversity linkages) through transboundary biodiversity conservation with application of ‘Ecosystem Management Approach’ and develop future strategy for the Hindu-Kush Himalayan region. The event is expected to address: a) contextualizing transboundary biodiversity conservation and ecosystem approach as adaptation strategy to climate change; b) raising awareness among the international community about the importance and role of transboundary landscape and connectivity conservation initiatives in achieving global conservation targets; c) and to share the experience from Kailash Sacred Landscape and to promote ‘Ecosystem Management Approach’ in addressing climate change challenges.
