Fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (BS COP MOP 5)

Participants of the Coordination Mechanism from Austria, Namibia, Netherlands, and Norway will discuss initiatives on and experiences with socio-economic considerations in LMO decision making with delegates and observers. The aim of this side-event is to receive information and suggestions on the issue in order to support the work of the Coordination Mechanism which was requested by MOP-4 in Dec. IV/16 to "consider possibilities for cooperation in identifying needs for capacity-building among Parties for research and information exchange on socio-economic impacts of living modified organisms".
