Meeting
Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

By presenting some case studies on how Brazilian companies are responding to the CBD, the side event aims at disseminating good practices in Brazil regarding the relationship between business, society and biodiversity. We believe that the business sector needs to become a bigger part of the solution to ecosystem degradation, rather than just being considered part of the problem. With the participation of the Brazilian Minister of Environment, Ms. Izabella Teixeira, this side event will enhance participants' knowledge of the country which holds a quarter of the planet´s biodiversity. Also, this side event is an opportunity to inform ministers and other government delegations about existing successful business actions in Brazil that respond to the three CBD core objectives. At the end of the side event, we will distribute bilingual brochures showing examples of how biodiversity is sustainably utilized in day-to-day business in Brazil and government initiatives aiming at a better use and conservation of natural resources.
