Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

The Government of India has enacted the Biological Diversity Act 2002. The Act provides for conservation of biological diversity, sustainable use of its components, and fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the use of biological resources and/or associated knowledge. The National Biodiversity Authority has been established in 2003, as an autonomous regulatory body for regulating all biodiversity related matters in India. The side event will focus on the sharing of experiences in the implementation of Biological Diversity Act 2002.
