An Explanatory Guide to the Nagoya Protocol on ABS

A clear understanding of the text of the Nagoya Procol on ABS and the resulting obligations for the contracting Parties as well as ABS procedures is of essential importance for the future implementation of the Protocol at the national level. IUCN is developing an explanatory guide to the Nagoya ABS Protocol which will aim to enhance the understanding of the protocol text and contribute to improve the capacity of government officials and different stakeholders to implement it. A core team of leading ABS experts have been brought together to contribute to this exercise in consultation with an Advisory Group. IUCN leads and some members of the team will be presenting the outline of the Guide and sharing initial ideas with participants to the ICNP.
