Seventh meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions

This event will comprise a roundtable of representatives from Indigenous peoples, local communities, and supporting organizations exploring recognition and implementation of different types of rights and responsibilities relating to communities’ governance and customary sustainable use of biodiversity. The following topics will be discussed: Traditional Resource Rights; Indigenous peoples, territories, and the right to self-determination; Native Title; and the emergence of new rights and responsibilities related to local communities and customary ways of life.
