Fifteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice

The IUCN Environmental Law Centre and the IUCN Global Policy Unit are currently developing an Explanatory Guide to the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of the Benefits Arising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity. This Guide will facilitate a clear understanding of the text of the ABS Protocol and the resulting obligations for the Parties to the Convention. Furthermore, it will provide practical guidance for the development of ABS legislation and implementation at the national level. The objective of this side event is twofold: - to present a first draft of the IUCN Guide; - to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to comment on the draft.
