Seventh meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions

In paragraph10 of decision X/43, the Conference of the Parties authorized the Secretariat to convene an international meeting to provide advice on the content and implementation of the new major component of work on Article 10(c). This meeting was held in Montreal from 31 May to 3 June 2011, and its recommendations were submitted for consideration at the seventh meeting of the Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions (UNEP/CBD/WG8J/7/5). In this side-event, the Secretariat, together with indigenous and local community organisations who attended the meeting in Montreal, will provide in-depth explanation and justification of the recommendations, drawing on experiences, challenges and initiatives at the local level, and discuss these with the audience.
