Meeting
Fourth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation of the Convention

At CBD COP 10, Parties were urged to revise their NBSAPs, aligning them with the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and the Aichi Targets. Of the Aichi Targets identified for achieving Strategic Goal A, two specifically call for Parties to create awareness of the values of biodiversity and integrate values into strategies and planning processes (Target 1 and 2, respectively). In this context, UNEP-WCMC and IEEP, with financial support from Defra and in collaboration with the CBD Secretariat have initiated a project to examine the lessons learnt from incorporating the values of biodiversity and ecosystems into NBSAPs. This side event will share the results of a survey conducted to review the different approaches adopted by Parties to incorporate values into their revised NBSAPs (completed and planned). The side event will provide an informal forum for discussion around current experiences, the different approaches being used, the constraints faced and international assistance needed.
