Meeting
Eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 11)

Co-organisers - BirdLife International, Government of the Philippines (Dept. of Environment & Natural Resources-Protected Areas & Wildlife Bureau), Bird Conservation Nepal, the Haribon Foundation in the Philippines, [the Government of Nepal and the CBD Secretariat]. The event will focus on the development and implementation of National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), the key instrument to help operationalize the Convention at the national level. BirdLife International, a global conservation partnership of 117 leading national organisations, and the Thematic Focal Point for birds to the CBD Clearing-House Mechanism, will launch a suite of new on-line materials to assist Parties with their NBSAPs and demonstrate how data on birds can help set, meet and monitor national biodiversity targets. Presentations from the Haribon Foundation in the Philippines, which with the government is leading the NBSAP revision, will outline how they are bringing together key stakeholders to contribute to national biodiversity planning. Speakers from Bird Conservation Nepal and the Government of Nepal will explain how an innovative toolkit to measure ecosystem services at key biodiversity sites across Nepal is being used to mainstream the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services across different sectors, and hence contribute to implementation of the national strategy. - BirdLife International – launch of NBSAP guidance materials. - Anabelle Plantilla, Haribon Fondation, the Philippines.
