The lunch-time meeting will focus on the prerequisites for the effective regulation and sustainable utilisation of GMOs in a developing country. It will consist of three short (10min each) presentations covering aspects of a workable regulatory framework, sustainable GMO utilisation and South African experiences respectively. An integrated 20-30 minute question and discussion session will be held after the three talks to allow audience participation. All talks will be presented by public officials intimately involved with the South African regulatory framework. A concomitant finger lunch will be provided to attendees.
