Initial results of a study to determine which innovation processes related to botanical extracts and ingredients fall within the scope of the Nagoya Protocol and assess the potential impact on current business models and their effect on delivering the conservation and livelihood goals of the Protocol, will be presented and discussed. Recommendations for future actions to contribute to making national legislations on ABS more effective and conducive towards achieving the objectives of the Nagoya Protocol will be explored.
