The Nagoya Protocol reaffirms the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities over their biological resources and associated traditional knowledge. The panel will provide guidance on implementing the Protocol from several case studies: (a) ABS agreements between plant breeders and farmers in South-west China that address collective community rights; (b) Development of community protocols, focusing on prior informed consent and benefit sharing agreements; © Principles and elements for national ABS laws to implement provisions related to indigenous peoples and local communities.
