Meeting
Seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety

This side-event is an academic and policy-oriented seminar examining the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol (NKL-SP) adopted in 2010 in Nagoya, and intends to provide a forum for an exchange of information and views regarding its future implementation by the Parties. The speakers and panelists include legal experts and former negotiators, providing valuable insights into NKL-SP and sharing information on the ways and means to implement NKL-SP domestically. A recently published book: International Liability Regime for Biodiversity Damage: The Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol (Akiho Shibata ed., Routledge, 2014) will also be launched. NKL-SP is currently ratified by twenty-four (24) States and the EU and, with sixteen (16) more ratifications to go, will probably enter into force before the next COP-MOP8.
