Both the COP and the Governing Body of the International Treaty have repeatedly emphasized the necessity for close cooperation and coordination between the Convention and the International Treaty, and their respective Secretariats. The Nagoya Protocol acknowledges the International Treaty and its Multilateral System, underlining the need to promote coherence and mutual supportiveness in their implementation. During this side event he Executive Secretaries of the Convention and the International Treaty will update delegates on the range of collaborative activities undertaken by the two Secretariats under their Joint Initiative in enhancing the cooperation between the two Secretariats. A number of Parties will also share their experiences and highlight the range of legislative, administrative or policy measures undertaken or being considered by them for the harmonious and mutually supportive implement the Protocol or the International Treaty.
