COP 11: LifeWeb Review and Alignment with 2011-2020 Biodiversity Strategic Plan: Consultation for Phase II

The first phase of the CBD-led LifeWeb Initiative has been highly successful with 78 countries and 17 donors agencies participating and the facilitation of 62 matches totaling close to €200 million Euros in developing countries for the expansion and strengthening of protected area systems. This session will review the current status of the CBD LifeWeb Initiative and take participants on a journey from the development of country NBSAP and CBD Programme of Work on Protected Areas Action Plan to identify priority actions, to the development of national expressions of interest (proposals) to LifeWeb, the coordination of donor roundtables, and ultimately the delivery of funding from donors to developing country’s protected area systems. Lastly, this session will solicit audience feedback for how best to align with the 2011-2020 Strategic Plan for Biodiversity and support achievement of multiple area-based targets. Programme
