The American Museum of Natural History’s Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC) was created in 1993 to apply the Museum’s extensive scientific and educational resources to conservation policy and action. The CBC develops model programs that integrate research, education, and outreach so that people become participants in its conservation. The CBC’s mission is to mitigate critical threats to global biological and cultural diversity by:

• Advancing scientific research in diverse ecosystems
• Strengthening the application of science to conservation practice and policy
• Developing professional, institutional, and community capacity
• Furthering AMNH's efforts to heighten public understanding and stewardship of biodiversity.

The Aquarium of Cala Gonone, designed by American architect Peter Chermayeff, in collaboration with the architect of Macomer Sebastiano Gaias is integrated in a natural and unique landscape within the Marine National Park Gulf of Orosei, making it one of the most beautiful aquariums in the world.

The Aquarium is a center of education and teaching applied to encourage a responsible attitude and awareness towards the environment and emphasize the importance and its biodiversity. The aim is also to enable a future international accreditation structure, as a reference point in the Mediterranean for the study, research and rescue of marine mammals and dangerous species.

The Acquario di Genova hosts about 1.250.000 visitors each year. With its 10.000 square meters and its 63 exhibition tanks it is the largest indoor aquarium in Europe, and one of the most attended cultural institutions in Italy.

The task of choosing which species and environments to present takes into account their environmental importance or how they can arouse curiosity and positive emotions in visitors. Therefore the Acquario di Genova can be considered a sort of messenger for animals, plants, seas, ecosystems and countries aiming at teaching either the respect towards sea environment or to inform about its problems and safeguard.

"Argentina's National Park Administration is part of the National State, and has been created to protect and to offer to the world, emblematic samples of the natural and cultural heritage. The Administration has 37 protected areas, covering approximately 3.700.000 hectares (around 400 provincial protected areas also exist in our country, covering approx. 17.900.000 hectares).

To have protected areas is to be aware of the country's richness to plan its future and develop its present. Thus, protected areas must become tools for sustainable development, and as such true opportunities of growth, work and social equity".

The Agency for Nature Conservation and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic (ANCLP) is a governmental body established by the Ministry of the Environment. It was established on March 1st 1995 as a successor of the former Czech Institute for Nature Conservation. The main aim of ANCLP is to protect and conserve nature and landscape on the whole territory of the Czech Republic.

The aim is to collect in one place anything found on the internet that relates somehow to the notion of agricultural biodiversity.

The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) is hosted by Singapore Government that checks the safe food, the safeguard of animals and plants to facilitate the agri-trade.

Amazonia Reforestation plants tropical trees for profit, socio-economic development and expanded wildlife habitat in Vichada, Colombia. Investors can participate in this program by buying fast growing tropical trees and sharing in the returns based on a 10 year cycle. We follow a sustainable model with mixed-species cultivation and staggered harvesting and replanting for the maximum benefit of the planet and local wildlife. Our program also seeks to commercialize native tree species that otherwise would be logged from natural forests, by supporting native tree seed collection, nurseries and planting. We believe that biodiverse plantations with modern forestry practices offer the best results for humans and local wildlife alike.

APHIS provides leadership in ensuring the health and care of animals and plants. The agency improves agricultural productivity and competitiveness and contributes to the national economy and the public health.

Apiculture in Galicia, a thousand-years-old tradition Numerous constructions made of stone, today an integral part of the Galician (North of Spain) landscape as well as its cultural heritage, bear witness of the activity evolved around beekeeping. We intend to offer a portrait of apiculture in Galicia, from its traditions to its modern day features, highlighting the especial connection between beekeeping and local environment. Objetive: Develop a mulifunctional beekeeping with pluriactive beekeepers linking the future of the bee with the future of environment.

Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF) has been working with a mission to achieve Conservation on ground for last 15 years in the Northern Western Ghats of India- a global biodiversity hotspot. AERF’s key strategy is to involve people in the process of conservation right from awareness generation to implementation. AERF’s pioneering work on Sacred grove’s conservation showcases the importance of ecosystem approach. Moreover AERF has also successfully demonstrated mainstreaming of biodiversity in cross-cutting issues such as energy and livelihoods through various initiatives. As a world-class entertainment attraction the visitor experience is a priority and exhibits at the Baltimore and Washington, DC venues connect the public to the biodiversity around us. Our commitment to education on the aquatic environment extends to thousands of school children who make emotional connections that create lasting enthusiasm for the environment. By establishing alliances and creating partnerships around the world, the National Aquarium collaborates with like-minded organizations to achieve more together.

ARKive is a unique global initiative, gathering together the very best films and photographs of the world's endangered species into one centralised digital library, to create a stunning audio-visual record of life on Earth. ARKive's current priority is to complete audio-visual profiles for those species at most risk of extinction according to the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Throughout the year, as part of our ‘Most Wanted' challenge, ARKive aims to highlight the plight of the world’s threatened species by tracking down imagery for 17,000 of the most endangered animals and plants. The ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) is an intergovernmental regional centre of excellence that facilitates cooperation and coordination among the members of ASEAN, and with relevant national governments, regional and international organizations on the Conservation and Sustainable use of biological diversity, guided by fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of such biodiversity.

Acknowledged as the first regional initiative to save the ASEAN’s rich but highly threatened biodiversity, ACB is a continuation of the ASEAN Regional Centre for Biodiversity Conservation (ARCBC), which was a joint cooperation project of the ASEAN and European Union (EU), and hosted by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippines.

AIN is a professional Association for Italian Naturalists. These are graduate in or students of Scienze Naturali (i.e. Natural Sciences) or an equivalent degree, but AIN welcomes also those who do not have these qualifications but share its purposes. AIN aims to further the Naturalists’ profession, to improve their qualification, and to spread natural history culture.

A distinguishing feature of Naturalists is that, regardless of the field of specialization, they possess an holistic outlook of natural systems. This allows a multidisciplinary approach which is vital to understand human-environment interactions.

Naturalists can deal in:

• the study of biodiversity and ecological processes;
• environmental planning;
• landscape preservation and recovery;
• the teaching of natural history;
• the overseeing of museum collections and exhibitions;
• the management of protected areas;
• planning of environmental information systems and environmental monitoring systems.

The Augusta-Margaret River Tourism Association (Inc) is a not for profit organization with a Committee of Management elected by the membership.

The Australian Government's overseas aid program is a federally funded program that aims to reduce poverty in developing countries.

Australian Science is a privately-funded foundation dedicated to the online preservation of digital information, reference data, and scientific materials. Our aim is to establish a unified list of libraries, universities, and technology centres equally dedicated to this goal. Australian Science is one of the key partners within the network committed to the advancement of science both in Australia and worldwide.

Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) supports countries in Africa, Asia and Central America as well as in South-Eastern Europe in their sustainable social, economic and democratic development. The Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs (MFA) plans the strategies and programmes and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) implements these together with public institutions, non-governmental organisations and enterprises.

The Ecodevelopment area of the Municipality of Hoyo de Manzanares includes the departments of Environment and Local Development and its main function is to promote the development of the municipality, within a framework of sustainability and having as a crosscutting tool to all projects, the respect and preservation of our environment as our main resource. Our municipality integrates various figures of protection as the Regional Park of the Cuenca Alta of Manzanares, Biosphere Reserve and Site of Community Importance "Manzanares River Basin." Among others, the promotion of sustainable tourism is one of our current projects.

The Bahamas Environment, Science & Technology (BEST) Commission provides guidelines for Environment Impact Assessments (EIA) and Environment Management Plans (EMP) for Industrial, Commercial and Residential developments throughout the Bahamas' archaepelago. A team of scientific experts coordinate the review of commercial, industrial, and residential development projects to be considered by the Government of The Bahamas.

Bastet Conservation is an NGO for the Conservation of Biodiversity created in 2009 to contribute to stop the alarming rate of extinction and habitat destruction ongoing today. All over the world Zoos are becoming Conservation Centers with the same purpose. With over 650 million visitors a year and thousands of species in their collections, Zoos have an enormous potential for this mission, but there is a lot of work to be done. That is why Bastet Conservation was born, to enhance the potential for Biodiversity Conservation of the 21st century Zoos through research, communication and colaboration

In 1997, the Belgian Coordinated Collections of Micro-organisms (BCCM), with the support of the European Commission, developed a voluntary code of conduct, the so called Micro-organisms Sustainable Use and Access Regulation International Code of Conduct (MOSAICC), which covers the terms of access to microbial genetic resources, including the terms of agreement on benefit-sharing, access to and transfer of technology, scientific and technical cooperation as well as technology transfer. Moreover, in 2004, BCCM has launched a project to develop a “Microorganisms Sustainable use and Access management Integrated Conveyance System” (MOSAICS).

BTC is the Belgian agency for development cooperation. On behalf of the Belgian government, BTC supports developing countries in their fight against poverty. Apart from this public service, BTC also executes contracts on behalf of other national and international organisations that work toward sustainable human development.

Beyond Ktaadn promotes the conservation of alpine wilderness in Eastern North America – from New England to Labrador – through field research, biodiversity inventory, and public outreach.

The highest peaks of the northern Appalachian Mountains and the Canadian Shield, crowned by islands of arctic-alpine tundra, are internationally significant reservoirs of biodiversity. These alpine highlands bear strong affinities to the arctic tundra some thousand miles to the north. They support hundreds of species of rare arctic plants and several species of distinctive arctic fauna (such as caribou, timber wolf, arctic hare, willow ptarmigan, and American pipit). Through focused research on mountain climate, vegetation, geology, and wildlife populations, we aim to increase the profile of these ranges and by working with individuals, local groups, and agencies, develop an informed conservation strategy that leaves these exemplary refugia of biodiversity and wilderness intact for future generations.

Virtual Biodiversity is a platform that intends to contribute to the conservation of species and habitats, to the popularization of nature and to collect and present data for the knowledge of biodiversity. The present project was born in 1995 as an invertebrate photo gallery. The members of our community contribute images to the eleven different theme galleries, where a team of more than two hundred experts, identify and order them in their corresponding taxonomic bank. Among the projects we will do in 2010, there are numerous Testings in Iberia and Morocco (meetings in the field to document biodiversity of an area by photographs), the creation of TaxoFoto (a virtual free access encyclopedia for the identification of Iberian species), VideoTaxo (identification of species and behaviors by video) and DiccioTaxo (an illustrated glossary of naturalist terminology).

ACTIONS FOR BIODIVERSITY, runs actions in favour of Nature by participating to projects of study, protection and conservation of species.

In Northern and Southern countries our Association develops communication, exchange and discussion, broadcasts information and increases public awareness on the importance of preservation of Biodiversity for a viable, equitable and sustainable development.

Biodiversity and Economics for Conservation (BIOECON) is a European Union (EU) funded project designed to advance economic theory and policy for biodiversity conservation, including the design and implementation of incentive measures.

The Biodiversity Conservation Center (BCC) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization working for restoration and protection of pristine nature allover Northern Eurasia.

The BCC's main objectives are:

• designing and implementing various conservation programs and projects
• providing methodological and consultative assistance to conservation initiatives, green activists, staff of nature reserves, national parks and other protected natural areas
• promoting partnership between Russian and overseas environmental organizations, coordinating their efforts in wild nature protection
• developing efficient mechanisms of fundraising for nature conservation projects
• improving management of protected natural areas and developing conditions for sustainable livelihood of their residents.

BCN was established to test hypotheses about the conditions under which community-based enterprises can lead to conservation. BCN's legacy of analytic research and on-the-ground project support lives on through a collection of publications now available through BSP and the BSP Web site.

Ontario’s Biodiversity Education and Awareness Network (BEAN) is a multisectoral collaboration of organizations, government departments and industries whose mission is to support and enhance the development and delivery of biodiversity education and awareness efforts by: supplying consistent messages, linking to sector- and age-appropriate content, and assisting where possible in program development and delivery. Identified audiences are engaged in learning, discussion, advocacy and action.

Fundación Biodiversidad (Biodiversity Foundation) was created by the Government of Spain in 1998, to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity. It collaborates with a large network of organisations and institutions in the public and private sectors and is currently funding over 400 projects a year. It also carries out its own projects and supports initiatives related to its five strategic lines: 1. Conservation and sustainable use of natural heritage and biodiversity 2.
