Funding for Parties from Developing Countries and Economies in Transition to attend (i) the twelfth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-12); and (ii) the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation of the Convention (WGRI-2), Paris, France, 2 to 6 July and 9 to 13 July 2007, respectively.
Pursuant to Decision VIII/31 paragraph 22 of the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties, I have the honour to inform you that the Secretariat has received, to date, a total of US$191,117 from donors in support of the participation of developing country Parties and Parties with economies in transition in the twelfth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA-12) and the second meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation of the Convention (WGRI-2), scheduled to be convened in Paris, France from 2 to 6 July and 9 to 13 July 2007, respectively.

Training course, workshops and guided tours for the participants to the twelfth meeting of SBSTTA, on 1 July 2007, Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle, 57, rue Cuvier, Paris, 5th District.
The Secretariat, in cooperation with the Muséum national d’Histoire Naturelle de Paris and its other partners of the scientific consortium, is pleased to announce the organization, on Sunday 1 July 2007, of a training course, in English or French, for the participants in the twelfth meeting of the SBSTTA. This training will be held from 9:30 to 17:00 in the Grand Amphithéatre of the Museum located at 57, rue Cuvier, Paris, 5th District. The following items on the agenda of SBSTTA-12 will be addressed: the ecosystem approach, the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation and climate change.

You will find attached the provisional agenda of the meeting, as recommended by the SBSTTA-12 Bureau at its meeting held in Paris, France on 26 July 2006 and endorsed by the COP Bureau at its meeting held on 5 December 2006, in Brasilia, Brazil.
