The Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality of The Netherlands organized a workshop on May 22 under the theme “Biodiversity and Climate Change.” The purpose of this workshop was to bring together some 40 representatives of government, non-governmental organizations and the scientific community to exchange views on the challenges and opportunities for adaptation and mitigation of climate change, and how they can be incorporated into the Dutch policy. There were presentations made by all three groups, which approached the issue from 3 points of view: research, civil society and policy. This was followed by a lively discussion on the way forward, and resulted in a number of valuable conclusions. A report of the meeting is available in Dutch. The workshop was held in the Ministry’s stylish conference centre at Castle Groeneveld.
