Celebrations of European Commission

European Commission adopts a strategy for achieving the 2010 Biodiversity Target



On the occasion of International Biodiversity Day, 22 May, the Commission adopted a Communication on “Halting the Loss of Biodiversity by 2010 - and Beyond; Sustaining Ecosystem Services for Human well-Being.” (Please also see the Annexes).

In addition, the European Commission organized Green Week 2006 http://ec.europa.eu/environment/greenweek/newslist.html   (May 30 – June 2) with the title “Biodiversity is Life”, a major Public Awareness and Communications event promoting biodiversity and the 2010 Biodiversity Target.
