International Union for Conservation of Nature

IUCN is a membership Union uniquely composed of both government and civil society organisations. It provides public, private and non-governmental organisations with the knowledge and tools that enable human progress, economic development and nature conservation to take place together. Work during the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity Target 9: IUCN Invasive Species Initiative (ISI) will continue to assist and support developing countries by providing updates of NBSAPs (in relation to prevention and management of biological invasions) and by developing or revising National Invasive Species Strategies and Action Plans (NISSAPS) – at national level generally or as species-specific strategies (e.g. Prosopis in Botswana). At the same time, the Initiative will continue to encourage Parties to work together to develop sub-regional and regional NBSAPs and NISSAPs. ISSG of the Species Survival Commission (SSC) is the lead agency in the development of invasive alien species indicators
