At the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, we are working with all Parties and key stakeholders to prepare the post-2020 global biodiversity framework at COP 15 in China, a transformative pathway to enable humanity to reach the vision of Living in Harmony with Nature by 2050.

As we build up momentum to COP 15, I encourage governments to convene national consultations that involve Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, subnational governments, the business and finance sectors, civil society, including youth and women.

I also urge all parties to contribute to our new Sharm El-Sheikh to Kunming Action Agenda for Nature and People, launched together with the Governments of Egypt of China, that will catalyze, collect and celebrate actions taken to advance biodiversity and humankind by all stakeholders.

As with any human-made crisis, we humans also have the ability to innovate solutions. And nature-based solutions offer tremendous opportunities for all segments of society. Together, we must co-design the future we want and need for us, our children, and the Planet. The entire CBD Secretariat, and I personally, stand ready to work together at this critical moment for nature and for all peoples.
