CEPA Fair 2010

The CEPA Fair on experiences and best practices (Notification: CEPA Fair 2010) was held in parallel to COP-10 from 18-29th October 2010 in Nagoya, Japan.

The CEPA Fair provides a unique opportunity for Parties and organizations to highlight their work and their contribution to the implementation of the three objectives of the Convention. In keeping with the spirit of the global celebrations of the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity the Secretariat is honored to have the occasion to share with the rest of the world the work of these partners whose work in Communication Education and Public Awareness brings us all one step closer to fulfilling the objectives of the Convention.

The activities presented at the fair represent the foundation upon which future work in support of the Strategic Plan for the Convention will be elaborated.

Monday 18 October

  • Title: Activities of Japan National Committee for IYB (Life on Earth Committee)
    Organized by: Japanese National Committee for IYB

Presentation addresses major activities of Life on Earth Committee that that has been formed across public and private sectors, and industrial and academic institutions. A goal of the Committee is to promote and facilitate understanding of the importance of domestic biodiversity toward the International Year of Biodiversity. 'Life on Earth Project' led by committee members is a collection of projects to convey the importance of biodiversity and encourage conservation actions in various forms. In particular, the speaker explains ongoing efforts and results of information dissemination to improve public awareness and participating mechanisms for companies and individuals on issues of biodiversity.

One of our key objectives is "mainstreaming of the Biodiversity among the nations", we believe that this initiative can create a very good path for everyone; between the discussions at COP10 and the ordinary people's life.
