Goals and Objectives |
Overall Goal |
|
To contribute to raising awareness on biodiversity and nature as well as facilitating intercultural communication on biodiversity. Promote an exchange of experiences and the creation of partnerships both between Germany and Russia as well as on the global level |
Specific Objectives |
|
Offer a concrete and practical internet-based tool which combines practical and direct work, including field observations, with the interactivity made possible by the Internet.Facilitate online publishing of these observations including interactive localizations of field observations on a world map.
Further facilitate experience exchange and transfer of know-how by building contacts among participants.
Provide an opportunity to raise awareness on biodiversity related issues thay may be relevant in other countries and regions of the world.
Demonstrate concrete examples of how BioDets could be used for advertising and the promotion of participation in CBD relevant activities ( i.e. Biodiversity Day and/or launches for specific CBD thematic programmes) |
|
Scope and Activities |
National Level Activities |
|
Organised two workshops - the first managed to attract participating schools, a total of four pilot-schools became first contributors and users. These were invited to a second workshop, for which all costs were covered by BfN. Project also promoted cooperation with a national UNESCO project- for the development of a school network, as well as other school networks. Radio and other media were used to) to advertise the platform |
Regions and Sub-Regional Level Activities |
|
Public awareness raising through a side event at COP7 and posting on the CEPA Portal, as well as through Russian partner organisations and CHM National Focal Points (i.e. NL and SF) |
International-Level Activities |
|
Advertising has begun and is being further proposed/developed by CEPA/CBD and the Ramsar Convention (because of the use of the pilot-theme WATER and UNESCO/MAB) |
