Inspiring whole-of-society actions

Piloted at the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Place Québec will be an interactive space for multi-stakeholder networking located in the heart of the Blue Zone of the UN Biodiversity Conference 2024. It will be accessible to all registered conference participants and provide dedicated spaces for members of organized constituencies to meet and showcase their work.

Place Québec will be associated with a shared multistakeholder auditorium with capacity for approximately 80 people to hold more in-depth exchanges and dialogues with a curated agenda built by the Secretariat in collaboration with the major stakeholder groups and constituencies.

Situated in a large hall at the heart of the conference venue, Place Québec includes four main components:

  • Exhibition space featuring 9 hubs for for the use of different constituencies and stakeholder groups, including: 
    • indigenous peoples and local communities; 
    • subnational and local authorities; 
    • women’s organizations; 
    • youth organizations; 
    • academic and research organizations; 
    • faith-based organizations; 
    • business and finance organizations; and 
    • non-governmental organizations. 
    • A similar hub will be provided for the use of agencies of the United Nations. 
  • A lounge area at the center of the space where participants can network or have small gatherings, 
  • An “exchange center” for workshops and training sessions, 
  • An associated ‘Multistakeholder Auditorium’ for dedicated sessions with a collaborative agenda  among the many constituency groups and stakeholders.  
     

Place Québec will run from 22 to 30 October 2024 and all registered participants at COP 16 will have access to visit and participate in its events.
