The official name of the
UN Biodiversity Conference is the
Conference of the Parties (COP), and it is the highest governing body of the
Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). It brings together representatives of the Parties to the CBD and other key players to review and promote the
implementation of the Convention.
COP-MOP refers to the COP serving as the meetings of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol or the Cartagena Protocol.
The COP and the COP-MOPs take place every two years. The UN Biodiversity Conference in 2016 is held on 2-17 December in Cancun, Mexico.
