The official name of the UN Biodiversity Conference
is the Conference of the Parties (COP)
, and it is the highest governing body of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
. It brings together representatives of the Parties to the CBD and other key players to review and promote the implementation
of the Convention.
COP-MOP refers to the COP serving as the meetings of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol or the Cartagena Protocol.
The COP and the COP-MOPs take place every two years. The UN Biodiversity Conference in 2016 is held on 2-17 December in Cancun, Mexico. Read more >
