AHTEG on Digital Sequence Information on Genetic Resources

An Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group (AHTEG) on Digital Sequence Information on Genetic Resources was established by COP decision 14/20. The AHTEG will:
  • Consider the compilation and synthesis of views and information and the peer-reviewed studies;
  • Develop options for operational terms and their implications to provide conceptual clarity on digital sequence information on genetic resources;
  • Identify key areas for capacity-building.

The outcomes of the AHTEG will be considered by the open-ended inter-sessional working group established under decision 14/34 to support the preparation of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework. Recommendations by the open-ended inter-sessional working group on how to address digital sequence information on genetic resources in the context of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework will be considered by Conference of the Parties at its fifteenth meeting.

A meeting of the AHTEG on Digital Sequence Information on Genetic Resources will take place in Montreal, Canada, from 17 to 20 March 2020. The meeting is made possible thanks to the financial support of the European Union.
