Report: "Biodiversity – a vital foundation for sustainable development"

To celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, the G7 published their Progress Report: “Biodiversity – a vital foundation for sustainable development”.

The report looks at the progress that the G7 has made on the group’s commitment on biodiversity over the last eight years. The report offers arguments for further improving the scope and effectiveness of G7 actions in the area of conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity.

In addition, it calls for making better use of potential synergies with related G7 commitments on development goals, such as poverty eradication, coping with climate change and food security. Biodiversity - the diverseness of life on earth - underpins delivery of nature’s services.

A separate Microsite has been set up by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in order to promote the report.
