Belgium Celebrates the International Day for Biological Diversity 2016

2016 is the 20 year anniversary of the Belgian ratification of the Convention on Biological Diversity.

The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences, in its capacity of National Focal Point to the CBD, and the Federal and Regional administrations in charge of environment, devised the programme "1001 for biodiversity" composed of three complimentary actions that will culminate on 20 May 2016, in the margins of the International Day for Biological Diversity:

1. 1001 ideas - Save biodiversity: the winners of the competition "1001 Ideas" will receive their prizes during the awards ceremony.

2. 1001 decisions - Save biodiversity: the political decisions from the past and for the future will be put forward by the competent ministers during a conference. An interactive debate with the public and young decision maker will be moderated by a journalist. During a networking lunch, the environment administrations will present their latest achievements and projects (booths, games, movies, photo exhibition).

3. 1001 actions - Save biodiversity: the online tool “1001 actions” will officially be launched. It is the enrichment and modernization of the public awareness booklet "366 Tips for Biodiversity".

More information is available on the website.
