Agencies of the United Nations (UN) join efforts in a new world project to contain marine biological invaders spread by boats throughout the planet. In the opinion of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), to counter the embedding of sea organisms in the hulls of boats 'is a fundamental step' to protect marine biodiversity and has the additional benefit of reducing greenhouse effect gas emissions, as it also reduces the resistance of ships.
