I am writing in connection with paragraph 7(a) of decision VII/23 which requested the Executive Secretary to update the strategic plan of the Clearing-House Mechanism to 2009, in collaboration with the informal advisory committee, for consideration by the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties. In addition, in its meeting of 6 February 2005, the informal advisory committee recommended to the Executive Secretary to solicit feedback and comments from Parties on issues held to be of significance prior to the drafting of the new strategic plan of the Clearing-House Mechanism. We would welcome your comments and advice on the development of the new strategic plan, particularly in regard to the Clearing-House Mechanism’s three primary objectives: technical and scientific cooperation, information exchange and network development, and within the context of activities related to the 2010 target, technology transfer and other programme areas and cross-cutting issues of the Convention.
