Biodiversity and Climate Change: A CBD Contribution to the Copenhagen Climate Agreement

Montreal, 11 September 2009 – The 6,000 participants attending the ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, held in May 2008, decided to establish an Ad Hoc Technical Expert Group on Biodiversity and Climate Change as a contribution to the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), to be held in Copenhagen in December 2009. Consequently, the Expert Group met twice—in London in October 2008 and in Helsinki in April 2009.
