Ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 9)

Peter Bridgewater, chairman of the UK's Joint Nature Conservation Committee, will provide a narrative considering several of the obstacles to implementing planning; to highlight these obstacles, and suggest possible solutions, the narrative will be interspersed with case studies detailing UK experiences from each of the countries in the devolved administrations. Themes will include making the best use of knowledge / evidence; adding value to locally and regionally determined delivery; defining realistic yet sustainable targets and objectives; assessing and measuring progress; prioritisation; and communicating and creating common understanding. There will follow a panel discussion with an opportunity to ask questions and an opportunity to network with colleagues.
