Side Event
WETLANDS, BIODIVERSITY AND CLIMATE CHANGE: WIN-WIN RESPONSE OPTIONS
Organizer
SCBD, Ramsar Secretariat, Wetlands International
Date and Time
20 May 2008 18:15 - 19:45
Meeting
Ninth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 9)
The main impact of climate change will be on water – and hence wetlands and the biodiversity they sustain. Water, and hence wetlands, is essential to human well-being. These ecosystems are becoming increasingly more vulnerable and their role in climate change undervalued. The side event will focus on the positive: what wetlands can do to help us respond better to climate change.
